DBFS Management Team
Brian McNulty, CEO
Brian McNulty is co-founder and CEO of DBFS, having previously held executive roles in Consultancy, Business Development and Operations at DBFS. His previous positions include Senior Trader in Commodities and Equity Derivatives at Rand Merchant Bank; Technical Analyst with Scottish Amicable Inv Mgrs and AMP Asset Mgt. He holds an Honours Mathematics Degree from the University of Glasgow, a Masters in Information Technology from Strathclyde University, both a practitioner in MSP and Prince 2; is a Certified Financial Technician (IFTA/CFT level II), is a qualified member of the Securities Institute and is Chairman of the CISI IT Committee.
David Upton, Director
David is a principal consultant within DBFS, with particular expertise in front office trading technology. David has worked within the London financial markets since 1994, co-founding DBFS in 1996 and has consulted within numerous blue-chip investment houses including Lloyds, ML, HSBC, Henderson Global Investors, designing automated high-frequency latency trading and developing e-com/portal FX and technical analysis solutions. Prior to setting up DBFS, David owned and was COO of risk management and alternative risk advisory companies in Australasia. David has an Engineering degree with honours from Massey University in New Zealand.
Simon Lewis, Principal Consultant
Simon joined DBFS in 1997 and his strong blend of business and technical skills enable him to drive forward the DBFS Technology and Business Consultancy streams, providing practical consultancy for the middle and back offices of Investment Management firms. Simon has hands-on, in-depth experience of delivering complex change and business process optimisation programs and managing technical focused projects. Simon has a Honours (First Class) degree in MIS and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Town. Simon is also a Certified PRINCE2 Practitioner.
Richard Bushell, Finance Controller
Richard joined the DBFS Group in 2008 following the acquisition of Tradermade International Limited where he had been Financial Controller since 2003. A Chartered accountant, he has previously held similar positions within several operational focused organisations.
Lead Consultants
Alan Bradley, Technical Director
Alan has worked for DBFS since 2006 providing technical advisory and delivery services for blue chip investment houses including JP Morgan, F&C Investments and BNP Paribas. Alan has good HiPortfolio technical knowledge. He has experience in hardware and software Optimisation and tuning, Unix Support, LAN/WAN Management and Development. Alan is certified in AIX, Solaris and Red Hat. As well as focusing on Unix and Windows automation, he has recently been involved in assessing risks in Cloud Computing and SaaS.
Abbas Merchant, Investment Management Consultant
Abbas started his business career in 1986 in San Francisco working as the head of Data Processing and Financial Administration for a Large Pension Administration Fund. In 1993, Abbas was recruited into Ernst and Young as a Senior Management Consultant to evaluate risk for large multinational banks in the Middle East and South East Asia, a position he maintained until 2000. Following this, Abbas has reengineered processes, designed and implemented several systems in Asian and European Banks, Hedge Fund Managers, Asset Managers and Fund of Hedge Fund Managers. Abbas has a bachelors degree in Management Information Systems and a Masters in Finance and CIS.
Aon Hassan, Technical Consultant
Aon Hassan has been working in the financial software industry since 2001. He has worked as a consultant for the Globus banking system. Aon helped design and implement Asset+, our Fund management software, and has consulted on several FX projects and fund implementations/migrations. Aon’s flexible and dynamic approach to both technical and business processes has made him an integral part of DBFS. Aon has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from University of Western Ontario, Canada, a Master of Science in Finance from the London School of Economics.
Business Development & Customer Support
James Clarke, Business Development – Asset+
James is an experienced sales executive with expertise in the financial markets, with a particular interest in Hedge Funds. James oversees all aspects of Asset+ business development, covering Wealth, Hedge and Fund of Funds. James joined DBFS from his role as Director European Business Development at Boardex to lead DBFS’s expansion into the Hedge Fund Market. Since leaving the British Army with the rank of Captain, James has worked for 11 years in the financial markets, initially with the Electronic Publishing Division of the FT in 1996. James has a BA in Politics from Reading University.
Catherine Wigington , Marketing Manager
Catherine brings with her a wealth of over 17 years marketing experience. She has worked with clients in sectors ranging from technology and telecommunications to media. This often involved running multimillion pound accounts as well as advising on a strategic level. Catherine has been a board director for the past 6 years. Catherine has a BA Honours degree in Business Studies from Oxford Brookes university.
Ryan Edwards-Pritchard, Recruitment Manager
Ryan started his career in the city within IT recruitment, working for the FTSE listed Sthree Group, where he was responsible for starting up and building numerous successful business lines. Ryan manages DBFS Recruitment, overseeing both the contract and permanent recruitment teams with sole focus on investment mangement and operations.
